The July 31rd is the day when “Julyers” and “Augusters” take the road and it will continue all weekend long. For the next 3 days, let us remind you common sense rules for long journeys starting or returning from vacation. Congestion, restlessness children on board and heat concern you already … So, for the journey unfolds in peace and security, do not improvise!

ROUTE

Preparing your trip means first identify route on a map or on a site routes, familiarize yourself with your GPS and adjust it, inquire about the specifics of the regulations for travel abroad. Take also the weather into account: it is sometimes better to delay his departure for a half day that driving in the rain!

Also plan regular breaks – every 2 hours – in suitable places to relax, allowing children to romp and discover the heritage. To do this, do not hesitate to visit the sites of regional tourist offices; locate areas with games, special events during the summer and arranged for a picnic sites.

DAY AND TIME TO TAKE THE ROAD

To avoid congestion, especially at the heavy flow of holiday traffic, make the choice to leave a day earlier and break up your journey. This is an opportunity to reduce fatigue, to do some sightseeing, and join his vacation spot, rested in the morning. You can also provide alternative routes to take: you will avoid tolls and consume less fuel.

Some hours are conducive to sleepiness: the afternoon, between 1 and 4 PM, and the night between 2 and 5 AM. In these slots, the human body is “programmed” to sleep! Needless to fight …

A ban also: the hasty departure after a day of work. One study showed that after 17 hours active standby, reflexes diminish as well as 0.5 g of alcohol per liter of blood!

Last golden rule: do not set a mandatory time of arrival. The journey is already part of the holidays! And for the safety of all, better a relaxed driver, who is not pressed for time.
