The fog induced three types of optical effects:<\/p>\n
- \n
- termination, that is to say the visual disappearance of the obstacle,<\/li>\n

Il se produit g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement entre 4h et 10h du matin, sur les axes \u00e0 chauss\u00e9es s\u00e9par\u00e9es et plus fr\u00e9quemment dans certaines r\u00e9gions o\u00f9 le brouillard est important et fr\u00e9quent.<\/h2>
Les facteurs de risque<\/h3>
Le brouillard induit 3 types d'effets d'optique<\/b>\u00a0:<\/p>
- l'extinction, c'est-\u00e0-dire la disparition visuelle de l'obstacle,<\/li>
- l'effet de halo qui entoure notamment les sources lumineuses,<\/li>
- l'effet de voile qui att\u00e9nue la nettet\u00e9 de l'obstacle en le rendant flou.<\/li><\/ul>
Selon l'effet, les obstacles ne seront pas per\u00e7us de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re. Certains resteront visibles, d'autres pas. \u00a0M\u00e9fiez-vous \u00e9galement du ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne dit de \"l\u2019aspirateur\".<\/b>\u00a0Le brouillard modifie l'appr\u00e9ciation des distances et perturbe les rep\u00e8res. Le conducteur aura alors tendance \u00e0 augmenter sa vitesse pour ne pas perdre de vue les feux arri\u00e8re du v\u00e9hicule qui le pr\u00e9c\u00e8de. Parall\u00e8lement, l\u2019automobiliste qui voit un v\u00e9hicule se rapprocher de lui par l\u2019arri\u00e8re aura tendance \u00e0 acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer de peur d\u2019\u00eatre heurt\u00e9. Au lieu de ralentir, la vitesse des v\u00e9hicules augmente. Le tout, associ\u00e9 \u00e0 des distances de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 non respect\u00e9es, peut provoquer des accidents graves.<\/p>

Consultez la m\u00e9t\u00e9o avant tout d\u00e9part.<\/b>\u00a0En cas d\u2019annonce de brouillard, retardez votre d\u00e9part si vous le pouvez.<\/p>
Si vous \u00eates sur la route, d\u00e8s l'apparition de nappes de brouillard,\u00a0r\u00e9duisez votre vitesse et augmentez la distance avec le v\u00e9hicule qui pr\u00e9c\u00e8de<\/b>.
Lorsque la visibilit\u00e9 est inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 50 m, le Code de la route fixe la vitesse maximale \u00e0 50 km\/h, y compris sur autoroute.
Si le brouillard autorise une visibilit\u00e9 sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 50 m, r\u00e9duisez dans tous les cas votre vitesse et respectez les distances de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, pour \u00e9viter l'effet \"d'aspirateur\". N'oubliez pas : le premier danger par temps de brouillard est le carambolage.<\/p>Soyez vigilant en zones \u00e0 risque : proximit\u00e9 de mar\u00e9cages, de plans d'eau ou de rivi\u00e8res, zones foresti\u00e8res et vall\u00e9es...<\/p>
Ne d\u00e9passez pas<\/b>\u00a0dans le brouillard : il masque les obstacles et supprime l'appr\u00e9ciation des distances. Roulez sur la file de droite.<\/p>
Respectez les consignes affich\u00e9es sur les panneaux d'autoroute, et soyez attentifs aux flashes clignotants indiquant la pr\u00e9sence de brouillard dense.<\/p>
Aux intersections, ouvrez votre vitre<\/b>\u00a0afin de mieux percevoir les v\u00e9hicules qui arrivent : si vous ne pouvez les voir, vous pourrez peut-\u00eatre les entendre !<\/p>
