A breakdown, or an accident, necessarily leads to stress for the driver; no one escapes it. Knowing the right behavior to adopt in such a situation is already a (good) step forward in order to reduce this panic.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

What can I do in case of a breakdown or an accident?<\/h3>\n
\n

The first thing you need to think about is safety. Here are a few tips:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Put on your yellow safety vest BEFORE getting out of your vehicle. To ensure always having it at hand, store it in the side compartment of your door. <\/span><\/li>\n
  • With the warning lights switched on, you can secure the area to avoid all risks (creating or worsening an accident) with your pre-warning triangle set at least 30 meters away from the back of your vehicle. Attention, on the highway we do not advise you to use this triangle, it is too dangerous! <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Don’t forget to then\u00a0stay BEHIND the security fence<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Ring the emergency numbers (112 from your mobile phone) or via a call terminal if it’s not too far!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    There is a multitude of cases\u00a0when\u00a0basic accidents happen. Explanations:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n

    If a\u00a0tyre bursts,<\/strong> try to stay on track as much as possible; do not brake and just let the vehicle slow down on its own. To do this, use the engine brake to slow down by gradually lifting the foot off the accelerator. And above all, keep both hands on the wheel! Visit the nearest motorway service area or a parking lot to change your tire or use an anti-puncture “spray”!<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n

    You are cruising, at any authorized speed, and suddenly no more brakes<\/strong>! Hold the steering wheel firmly with both hands and try to slow down. If you are already driving at a slow pace, use the parking brake; if you do not, proceed to lower your speed as quickly as possible. Do not forget to switch on your hazard lights to warn other drivers of your slowing down.<\/span><\/p>\n

    It is very important to check your brakes before driving and do not hesitate to test them when you are going downhill too, to see how effective they are.<\/p>\n

    If you witness an accident<\/strong>, assisting is a legal obligation. Secure the area to warn other motorists and contact emergency services. While waiting for their arrival, you can reassure and comfort the victims. As a witness, the police forces will ask for your contact information and an explanation of what you saw. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Even if stress may not be avoidable, the important thing is to focus, take a deep breath and to think safety!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Conna\u00eetre les bons r\u00e9flexes \u00e0 avoir dans ces cas l\u00e0, c\u2019est d\u00e9j\u00e0 un pas en avant pour r\u00e9duire cette panique. <\/strong><\/h2>

    La premi\u00e8re chose \u00e0 laquelle vous devez penser, c\u2019est la s\u00e9curit\u00e9. Voici quelques conseils\u00a0:<\/p>

    • Mettez votre gilet jaune de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 AVANT de sortir de votre v\u00e9hicule. Pour \u00eatre sur de l\u2019avoir toujours \u00e0 port\u00e9e de main, rangez-le dans le compartiment de votre porti\u00e8re.<\/li>
    • Les feux de d\u00e9tresse allum\u00e9s, vous pouvez s\u00e9curiser la zone afin d\u2019\u00e9viter tous risques (cr\u00e9ation ou aggravation d\u2019un accident) gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 votre triangle de pr\u00e9-signalisation \u00e0 30 m\u00e8tres au moins de l\u2019arri\u00e8re de votre v\u00e9hicule. Attention, sur l\u2019autoroute, nous vous d\u00e9conseillons de placer ce triangle, c\u2019est trop dangereux\u00a0!<\/li>
    • N\u2019oubliez pas de vous placer DERRI\u00c8RE la barri\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9<\/li>
    • Alertez les secours gr\u00e2ce aux num\u00e9ros d\u2019urgence (15 pour le SAMU, 18 pour les pompiers, 17 pour la police ou la gendarmerie, 112 depuis votre t\u00e9l\u00e9phone portable) ou via une borne d\u2019appel si elle n\u2019est pas trop loin\u00a0!<\/li><\/ul>

      Il existe une multitude de cas, explications\u00a0:<\/p>

      \"2299117-focus-wide\"Si votre pneu \u00e9clate<\/strong>, essayer de maintenir votre trajectoire autant que possible, ne freinez pas et laisser le v\u00e9hicule ralentir de lui-m\u00eame. Pour cela, utilisez le frein moteur pour ralentir\u00a0en levant progressivement le pied de l\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateur. Et surtout, gardez bien les deux mains sur le volant\u00a0! Rendez-vous sur l\u2019aire d\u2019autoroute la plus proche ou bien sur un parking pour\u00a0changer votre roue ou utiliser une bombe anti-crevaison\u00a0!<\/p>

      Vous roulez, \u00e0 n\u2019importe quelle vitesse autoris\u00e9e, et soudain plus de frein\u00a0<\/strong>! Tenez fermement le volant avec vos deux mains et essayez de ralentir. Si vous \u00eates \u00e0 une faible allure, utilisez le frein \u00e0 main sinon passez \u00e0 la vitesse inf\u00e9rieure le plus rapidement possible. N\u2019oubliez pas d\u2019allumer vos feux de d\u00e9tresse afin de pr\u00e9venir les autres automobilistes de votre ralentissement.<\/p>

      \"auto-repair-1954636_960_720\"Il est important de v\u00e9rifier vos freins avant de prendre la route et n\u2019h\u00e9sitez pas \u00e0 les tester quand vous \u00eates en descente pour conna\u00eetre leur efficacit\u00e9.<\/p>

      Si vous \u00eates t\u00e9moin d\u2019un accident<\/strong>, porter secours est une obligation l\u00e9gale. S\u00e9curisez la zone afin de pr\u00e9venir les autres automobilistes et contacter les secours. En attendant leur arriv\u00e9e, vous pouvez rassurer et r\u00e9conforter les victimes. En tant que t\u00e9moin, la gendarmerie vous demandera vos coordonn\u00e9es ainsi qu\u2019une explication de ce que vous avez vu.<\/p>
